Frost
A weathered night
A killing cold comes down off the main ridge. Bowstrings snap, oil and water freeze, and the watchmen huddle round their fires instead of the arrow slits.
- Effect
- A third or more of your Koshki (always at least one) freeze at nightfall and stop shooting; stand your lord beside one for a few seconds to thaw it. The cold also slows your lord and soldiers by a quarter. A Beacon Koshki never freezes, nor do the towers by it.
- Warning
- A sign with a red exclamation mark appears next to the night counter the day before.
- On the map
- A pale blue cold settles over the map with ice crystals in the wind. Frozen towers turn icy blue under a crust of ice, and a ring fills over one while your lord thaws it. A snowflake hangs over your lord and every soldier while the cold slows them.
- Comes in
- Ertso-Tianeti, Khevsureti
Notes
In the high valleys of Khevsureti and Tusheti winter comes early and hard. Villages such as Shatili were cut off by snow for months, and the passes over the main ridge closed.
A watchtower was only as good as the men in it: in bitter cold, arrows flew short and fires were kept for warmth.
