History
Omar Khan, known in Avar histories as Umma Khan V, ruled the Avar Khanate from 1774 to 1801. He was the son of Muhammad-nutsal IV, the Nursal-Bek of Georgian histories.
In 1784 he led an army of about 15,000 men into Georgia. He took the Agjakala fortress in Borchali, seized the Akhtala mines, raided Upper Imereti and besieged Vakhani, and King Erekle II agreed to pay him a yearly sum to stop the raids.
In 1800 he invaded Kakheti again, allied with the Georgian prince Alexander, and was badly wounded when a Russian-Georgian force beat him at Niakhura on the Iori. He died the next year. The sources don't record him raiding Tusheti: his war cry and his appearance here are game choices.
